Our first milking doe was an Alpine.  Ruby was sold to us a family milker but ended up appraising well and giving a sound foundation to our Alpine herd.  A favorite of our youngest son Morgan, the Alpines at Spinning Spider give our Saanens a run for their money in productivity and length of lactation.  While their temperament is not nearly as easy going as the Saanens, they do add a bit of spice to the farm.
